After reading all the threads about the zone system, I have had the desire to go back and test some film and familiarize myself once again with the process. It has been a long time. On a whim I put in a low bid on a Macbeth TD904 Densitometer on ebay and, much to my surprise, won it for the high cost of $9.95. Seller knew nothing more than it powers-up and seems to work. Realizing it will most likely need some sort of calibration, I even found someone to work on the thing for me.

See it HERE if you wish

My question is, will it be worth the trouble? Is there anyone out there familiar with this model? Even more of a long-shot, does anyone have or know where I can find a manual?

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

The manual for the Macbeth TD504 (probably an earlier model) is available at

http://www3.sympatico.ca/nick_zentena/macbethtd504/0001.jpeg

Also try Chieffe Electronics, which supports old Macbeth densitometers. They quoted me $7 for a Macbeth TR524 manual, and I believe they also stock parts and bulbs.
E-mail address is papajoe3@verizon.net

Macbeth makes professional-grade gear, so I don't think your $9.95 is wasted. My TR524 is built like a tank (sounds like a tank, too –*the fan bearing is getting tired, but the electronics are still fine.)

Good luck with it.

Thank you Craig.

I have received and tested my $9.95 MacBeth TD-904 and it is fantastic shape. Now a transmission step-wedge and I am in business.

Thanks to everyone for their help!
