A few time ago I bought a adapter to use my only F/1,4 lens on my minolta dynax 7. The lens is a m42 thread, and so after I got a adapter to use on my X-300s, the next step was to use also on my AF camera.
I bought one with a focusing chip. After receiving it, I try out and had no problem. When I decided to use it, I put everything in place and when switching on the camera, I got a crazy sound and the camera does no work. A friend of mine told me that the adapter is causing a short-circuit, do to a metal part of the lens is touching some part of the camera. To try to see what part and isolate with some transparent fingernail varnish and not use the lens+ adapter in the camera do to the danger of burning the electrical engine.

Correct his idea? What can I do to see what is causing the problem and fix? Or anyone come across similar problem?

Does the camera still work properly with your Minolta AF lenses?

I use a plain adapter without the AF confirmation chip in my Sony digital without issue. I'll try it on my Maxxum later to see if it works okay on that.
