Lynn Massachusetts locations.

I'm going to be in the Lynn, Ma area Memorial Day weekend and would like to do some shooting. Can anyone recommend some good locations for shooting. Looking for pretty much anything that doesn't involve people (landscapes, waterscapes etc.).

I do not want to go into Boston. Any other suggestions?
 
Nahant, which is connected to Lynn by a causeway is interesting. Gloucester, Cape Ann in general can be rewarding. While these areas are not Boston, the same good travel advice applies: be aware of your surroundings and don't leave valuables in your car.
 
If it hasn't changed much in the last 10 years, I wouldn't spend much time at all in Lynn. It was one of the cities with a large drug and gang problem and therefore high crime. My old supervisor ALWAYS said, "Lynn, Lynn, city of sin. You never get out the way you went in." Since I got lost almost every time I went there, I'd say the rhyme had a double meaning, at least.

If you drive North on 1A just a few miles, you get to Salem, which is more picturesque and somewhat safer (though it is a tourist town and you still need to be careful). My favorite town on the north shore is Rockport, MA (up 128 past Gloucester, which isn't bad either). Motif #1 is there and the harbor is scenic. There are also plenty of buoys hanging on shacks, etc... Or you can go sorta westish to Lincoln, Concord, and Lexington. Lincoln has the DeCordova Museum which has a sculpture park. The road to get there has some scenic spots on it (there's an IR shot of a pond on my website and maybe in my gallery here that was shot on that road).

Nahant looks nice, but be warned, I could not find one spot where an outsider can park for an extended period of time. In fact the only parking I found that wasn't "Resident Only" was in front of the library, which was limited to 30 minutes parking.

On the other side of the bay from Nahant is Revere Beach; much easier to park, some nice scenery to be found.

If you're into landscape / seascape photography and know where you will be (e.g., Lynn, MA), I highly recommend what I do: go on Google Maps, turn on Satellite view, and just look for potentially cool spots (you can turn on Explore and see photos taken near the area).
 

Thanks for the info and suggestion. I have used street view in the past but thought I might get some advice from those who might know the north coast. Also those are some beautiful photos.
