Before Luminos got out of the photo paper business they distributed a paper sold as Doc Art. I used a lot of this paper as a support for carbon images, since it had a very soft gelatin that swelled a lot when put in very hot water, allowing me to make a transfer of a carbon image from plastic. It also had a very nice pebbly surface with a lot of character. My understanding is that Kentmere actually made this paper. Does anyone know if the Doc Art paper is still being made by Kentmere , and if so, its current name?

Discontinued due to loss of the paper base.: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

There was talk of them looking for a replacement paper to coat, but I do not know how well that has gone.

Hi Bob and Mike,

Thank you for the information. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but now I know the sad truth.

Sandy,
It was an excellent Bromoil paper as well. I found some at a local camera store about 6-8 months ago. I hadn't known they carried it, but there it was. I'll go by there and see if they still have any on the shelves.

There are several (?) that they didn't replace. My favorite of the bunch was Charcoal R. It wasn't for every photo to be printed on, but when you had the one, OH YEAH!
