Hello all,

After many years of photography (I've read threads here when it was still called APUG) I finally decided to try my hand on developing my own film.
Cheapest BW-film I could find here in Japan was above named Luckypan 400.
Cheapest developer I could find was Fuji's SPD, also called Super ProDol or Speedy.
The Massive Dev Chart did not have any information about this combination, so I dove in on just a guess.
8 min development, 30 secs agitation, then every minute.
5m of fixing with Fuji's Super Fujifix.

Not sure if you would call it adventurous or stupid, but the camera was also an unknown variable, as I had just picked up this Konica MR640 for cheap from the same store as the film...

Anyway, it all turned out well and I am posting here to share the results with you.

In the end, I ordered a 10 pack of Luckypan and will happily shoot it to save some hard earned cash. What do y'all think?

I think your development is pretty close to right, but you might consider an extra stop of exposure. Thank you for sharing it as I'm interested in Japanese film developers. Pretty sure Luckypan comes from China.

You could say I got... lucky? Hehe.
Yes, the film is from China. I don't like this fact but a 10 pack of TriX is now twice of what it used to be, so...
I did get some DX code stickers and indeed shot the next roll at 200. I didn't develop that one yet though.
I'm currently shooting a roll at 800 and 1600/3200 is planned too.

@FreXxX0mat That should be interesting! Don't know what the prices of Acros in Japan are, but that film can push pretty well to 400, and Kentmere 400 is nice at 800.

Oh really? I mean Acros is a premium film, but I also don't know its price as I don't shoot 100 very much. I need to try that, thanks!

Looking good! Welcome to active posting on Photrio as well!

That DS with a Japanese plate is an interesting sight for sure.

Thanks
People here in Japan love their cars, and I go to some car exhibitions from time to time. But I walk past this DS from time to time anyway, it's a very unusual/french silver-green mixture when it's not BW.
