Ok, so I just made a bit of a mistake. I placed a bid on ebay for an enlarger I thought was going to be a good deal. It still may be (for a beginner like me anyway), but the mistake I made was not checking to see what it came with in the way of it's small parts (for example, negative carriers). What makes this an issue is that it appears the company may no longer even exist, and I haven't been able to find out anything about replacement parts.

My question for you all is, are any of you familiar with the Fujimoto Lucky enlargers? And is there a way to make your own negative carriers?

Rest easy, sleep tight. What ever you need for yer Lucky enlarger, I have one. I have a whole enlarger, I'll ship you whatever parts you need. The whole daggone enlarger for the price of shipping. I believe I have both the 6x6 and the 135 negative carriers, lens board, condensors, spring unit for the head, etc.

If ya didn't pay too much , it's a good piece of equipment for someone just starting out. As good as the Beseler 22xl.

Let me know.

THANK YOU! That's a whole load off my mind. If I don't end up being outbid (still a day or so left on the auction), the total cost including shipping for it would be $40US.

btw, the 135 carrier, is that the one for 35mm negs? (newbie here, still learning, hope I don't sound like an idiot)

Oh, they are still around:Dead Link Removed. I'm an owner of a G70 and I had recently some correspondence with them. They should be able to tell what negative carriers work with your enlarger and if they are still available. I was actually offered to buy directly from them, but I ended up buying some Fujimoto negative carriers on eBay instead.

Yes, isn't it?! The elder Fujimoto site had parts in English and I hope they will update the new site with a English translation soon.
Meanwhile, you may contact Kumpei Takahashi (kumpei@fujimoto-photo.co.jp), advertising manager at Fujimoto. He was very helpful when I had some questions regarding my G70.

Thanks, I'll have to jot that address down for if I need it. I just got in contact with the seller on ebay, and he says there are 3 different negative trays with the enlarger, so I should be ok there.

Now to just wait the day and a half to see if anybody outbids me.

At the risk of starting a heated thread: That's called a "snipe." Some people do this to avoid inciting irrational bidding wars or to take advantage of non-snipers, depending on your point of view. To avoid unpleasant feelings should you be sniped, I recommend you decide well before the auction ends what you're willing to pay for the item -- that is, the amount over which you would not bid if you knew the auction would go over that value. Then bid that value, either well before the auction ends or as a snipe. Note that you might not pay your maximum, even if you place the bid well before the auction's end, because of the way eBay auctions work. If you're outbid, then so be it. Having decided well in advance what your maximum bid was, you probably won't feel so bad about it if you've really entered the maximum you're willing to pay as your bid.

As to your losing out on this enlarger, at least there are plenty of used enlargers on eBay for excellent prices. You probably won't have to wait long to find another one, unless you're set on getting a fairly rare model.

Listen very carefully...

postage paid, I will send you a Lucky., I will even include a lens or two for your enlarging process.

I sit here with:

4x5 Besseler

4x5 Omega D (including all the condensor sets, a bunch of negative holders, etc)

Besseler 67S with both mixing boxes and a couple of negative holders.

Omega 22xl with suplemental condenser and color head.

the Lucky.

Now, the 4x5 Beseler isn't going anywhere.

All the rest are up for grabs.

Make an offer. I will bet you do better than EBay.

Hi k_jupiter,

Do you still have that 60M? Will you sell parts?
