Lubricant for helical threads

Hi,

Can any one recommend a lubricant for helical threads?

Per the LargeFormatPhotography forum, a lot of us use wax-based bicycle chain lube for metal-to-metal lubrication. White Lightning is probably mentioned more often than others. Of course for photography use, one bottle will probably last a lifetime!
