So I got a Bilora Bella 44

And the shutter wouldn't trip.
I took it apart and it appears that either the lube is bad/dry, or the +-spring is weak, so that it sometimes recocks slowly, or not at all.

Any suggestions as to whether I should lube or replace the spring, or both? Any idea what lube I should use?

Thanks

EDIT: I put less than a drop of light mineral oil on the back of the pivot point which initially made things much better, but after a few mins had degraded.

Hmmmm. If it were me I'd try just cleaning it first, get the pivot for the shutter as clean and dry as you can so it swings freely.

let me know, I have one of those that has the same problem. Never tried to shoot it.

IMO adding lubricant is the last thing to do. Before you should:
- clean in suitable solvent, e.g. naphta, not acetone!
- if that does not work, and after you understand the role of each part, look for a part that has, maybe, worn out in a particular spot, developing a burr or similar; if that is the case, gentle rubbing with very fine sandpaper (600 and up) might restore normal operation
