I’ve an LTM collapsible 50mm f3.5 Hexar. Glass is super clean, but a nominal touch of haze. It was somewhat wobbly when I got it, but now it seems very loose. I understand lack of optical barrel alignment is unkind to photographing with it. My attached image of the lens extended shows just how bad.

I can machine Delrin, aluminum, steel, brass, bronze etc. to make a sleeve/collar or an insert to make a tighter fit, arbor pressing it in to the screwmount portion.

Am I missing anything?
I’ll need to pull the lens off to separate it from the barrel and rear screwmount part. I’d add the collar or insert to the (inside of) screwmount part. Also, to disassemble just remove the (opposed 180 degree) screws, one of which is shown in the near middle of the image and everything slides apart, right?

(possibly somewhat rare, one Japan seller says so and selling same for well over $2k - I think that’s hyperbole).

The company history is interesting:

With such collapsible lenses, after extending the barrel, you are supposed to rotate the lens/barrel assembly to secure it in place. Are you doing this?

Your image is of the lens almost collapsed, not extended. It should lock in position when extended : if it's still wobbly then, there must be a collar missing. My two Leica screwmount collapsible lenses both have a collar. No amount of wear would make them as loose as yours, unless the collar were removed. Your lens barrel looks fine and straight in your image.

Bingo. I’ve lost my mind (I know to lock them extended). I think I’ve never noticed any wobbliness enroute w the other two collapsibles I have, hence when I pulled this lens up and extended it, this shocked me. There is a good degree of wobble when extended. But I didn’t twist to set it. The looseness is that evident without locking it.

Albada/Ballindery-Michael. You’re correct, when I extend and twist it locks solid tight and straight. Three small tabs around the circumference at the rear of the shaft appear to seat somewhere in the screw mount body when fully extended and twisted. Problem solved. Thank you so much. How much do you bill by the hour?

This is good! Just for your interest, I followed up "Leotax" from your image. The site

suggests, if you have the patience to srcoll down quite a bit, that your lens was probably made for the model Leotax T, first marketed in 1955 (the year my parents gave me my first camera).
