I got an old LPL bulk film loader. It’s very similar to the Kaiser ones sold now.
It’s seemingly straight forward to load. Put the bulk roll in and pull the leader around a sprocket and through the opening.
the issue is, once I close it and load film it doesn’t click. I assume it’s slipping off the sprocket when I close it.
is there anything obvious that I’m not doing right?
Thanks!

If it is like the ones I have, the "clicker" is quite sensitive to whether or not the film is traveling straight - even the slightest variation can make a difference.
Check that the bulk roll is in the proper position.

Good Evening, Eric,

Sometimes the same thing happens with Watson loaders. It's usually simple enough to keep track of the crank turns instead of relying completely on the counter.

Worst case, if the crank gets stiff suddenly, stop because the cassette is full, you've got around 40 frames wound in.

I opened the loader and reset the film roll with the leader on the sprockets and made sure there's some tension.
Now it clicks ...

Always like successful resolutions!
Or if you prefer, a solution that "clicked" :whistling::tongue:
