ok, this enlarger will do 6x8cm with a suitably opened up 6x7cm carrier. Does anyone know if it can stretch to 6x9cm? In practice this means about 56x84mm.

It not just a matter of filing the negative carrier, with the color head is the mixing box 6X7 or a bit larger? My 6700 mixing box will cover a 6X9 but don't know if the light is even at the edges or if will vignette, in theory it should. So you might be able to file the negative carrier and use a Drummel to open of the negative stage if needed.

Yes - with the glass universal carrier, provided you remove the masking blades.
I received the instructions for doing that from ozphoto (Nanette) so you may want to reach out to her.
I've not done enough printing of 6x9 with mine yet to give the result a fair review, but it appears to be problem free with the VCCE head.

What lens do you use? With the 6700 I don't think there are lens boards, longest I could use a 80.

The 7700/Omega 670 enlargers use a cone type lens board that you use in one orientation (tophat) for short lenses, and then flip it over and use it in the other oorientation (extended) for longer lenses.
My 105mm lens seems to work fine, although I haven't used it for particularly large prints.

...my default lens is the el-Tominon 60mm f/4. It's a wide angle lens for 6x6 but I tend to use it for small format as well - its greater working distance compared to 50mm is more convenient. It covers 6x7 and 6x8 too. If it won't go to 6x9 then i also have an 'el-T' 90mm f/5.6

@Neil Grant , it's pretty straightforward when using a universal carrier - just remove the blade assembly very carefully (and the glass if you wish) and it's then all set to go; I've been using mine for my Kodak folder, Brownie Box and Agfa Clack - all printing perfectly.

Note, I did buy a spare Universal carrier specifically to do this, as I have other "odd" sizes that require it to be complete. If you simply print the "typical" neg sizes (35mm, 6x6, 6x4.5, 6x7) having a spare is probably a waste of $$.

Good luck!
