LPD new packaging -- shelf life

A gallon of LPD lasts a long time if you replenish... using only about 20ml of stock solution for every 3 8x10 prints.

But now I need to order some more and I'm wondering what people think now that it doesn't come in a can any more.
Would it be safe to order more than one packet if it's going to take 2 or 3 years to go through one? Would you do anything special to store the packets?

Been using the packets for years. However, because this is a classroom darkroom we use a gallon fairly quickly

What I do find strange. , the color varies in intensity .in fact when compared to the liquid version it is hard to believe it is the same+developer

However, we have=had no issues with the results

Thanks! I'll probably order a few packets and store the extras in a ziplock in the dark, cool garage.
I hope they are selling enough to stay in business a long time!

My replenished developer turns a light tea color over time, but the results stay extremely consistent.
I filter it every once in a while, and store it in a full bottle between sessions.
Very convenient because it's always sitting there ready to use and no waste.

LPD is a classic. The last few years I've been using Bromophen, but I think I have 9 or 10 cans of LPD, great stuff.

I used to mix 30 gallons of LPD every week for a University darkroom. The color varied even with the cans, but it never seemed to matter and the professors were quite picky about their chemistry, as they should have been.

I Loved the smell of that stuff and the students loved the results...

reading the thread, i thought "how longs that can of lpd been on my shelf, since i switched to liquidol? the can has no expiration date!!!! the can is in great shape, no rust dirt, etc., been stored indoors.

could it be really old, or did they start putting expiration dates only recently?

I've got LPD and UFG from the late 70's. I have no idea if they are still good, but I bet they are.
