Rodenstock 5.6/300mm Macro-Sironar-N
SN= 10'528'586 COPAL3

Above lens was "LOST IN TRANSIT" during shipment between U.S. and Europe (End nov-2008).
It is missing now for 3 months, and it possibly got stolen.

This lens is no longer manufactured, but shows up from time to time at auction sites.

Should you see this lens, please inform me by PM. Thank you.

LOST IN TRANSIT "Rodenstock 5.6/300mm Macro-Sironar-N" SN= 10'528'586

Update:

The lens was shipped by US insured express mail on November 15th, tracking
number EH12737859US. The US post office website says "Label/Receipt
Number: EH41 2737 859US. Status: International Dispatch. Your item left the
United States from ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) at 2:25 PM on November 16,
2008. No further information is available for this item." .
The barcode was never scanned on the European side, as it should on arrival,
and passing customs after that.

This means it either never left U.S. or disappeared during transport.

When the correct Label/Barcode is on the package then you can track all the way. I did this recently with a replacement screen, the first got lost in space.

I've had the same problem, as on your thread on LFPI. When the wrong label is used tracking stops at the departure point. This is not your fault at all it's USPS, or maybe it's fraud at the departure point.

I worked for the UK Post Office back in the early 70's and even then before computers, a special delivery item with a tracking code could be traced right to the point it was lost.

My experience with tracking etc is that it works exceptionally well, but there are a few items that get lost. I worked in the precious metal industry for 20+ years & both companies I worked for sent hundreds of parcels a day usually containing precious metal items or cash but we only had a few go missing maybe 6-8 a year, and the UK Post Office was extremely good at compensating in full, after about 6-9 months.

Unfortunately USPS aren't so good at accepting responsibility.

thanks for all comments!

@ian:
what do you mean by WRONG label? I assume there is only one barcode
on the sending slip, which the sending postoffice will read with an
electronic barcode reader (?)
