Want to Buy Looking to Purchase a Large Format Enlarger - NYC Area

Hi APUG community,

I just joined the forum, but have been involved with film photography for a while. I live in the NYC area and am interested in building my own darkroom. I’m basically looking to purchase a large-format enlarger. I’d prefer 8 x 10, but given its size and etc. I will look at 4 x 5 and 5 x 7 as well.

Furthermore, I’d really like to just purchase one in good working condition (just want to start printing! ) as opposed to purchasing a fixer-upper. In the ideal world, I’d love to get a cold light, diffusion head and a condenser along with some great lenses to go with a 8 x 10 enlarger.

I don’t mind traveling (within 8 hour drive?) to get one as well. So, if anyone out there has any for sale, just PM me and I’d love to take a look at your offer.

I have a motorised Beseler 4x5 w/color head in great shape w/lots of carriers that you can have for $40. I80 will take you straight to me in Youngstown, Ohio--a freeway exit is on my street!

Hi all - just wanted to bump this WTB again. As an update, I've picked up a 4 x 5 enlarger (diffusion) and am still looking for a 8 x 10 enlarger. Good luck on your quest. Finding an 8x10 enlarger is more chance than anything else. You might check with some of the larger NY labs to see if any have an enlarger they want to get rid off. Otherwise, check the LFF. I know of a possible enlarger in the Boston area if you want to PM me. L

An 8 hour drive in any vehicle would be more costly than shipping on an enlarger.

Gee, I drove from New Orleans, LA to Richmond, VA to pick up a DeVere 5108 which I purchased. Shipping would have been out of the questions, and flying up and driving a rental van back home was more expensive, so I just drove. Guess it just depends on how badly you want something. L

The DeVere 5108 is a beautiful piece of machinery.
I rescued mine form the university when they went the way of the Dodo (i.e. digital) and wanted to scrap it.
