Hello everyone,
Thought I would reach out to the community to see if anyone had a 90° finder for a Linhof Technika Color
4x5 camera they’d be willing to sell.
I’ve checked my usual sources and can’t seem to find one anywhere in the US.

feel free to DM me.

Best,
Jason

Make sure that you get the 2 piece black one. Not the older 1 piece ivory one.

Interesting… Can you fill me in on why you do not like the ivory one? That’s the only one I’ve been able to see anywhere in photographs. I do understand that it requires a Fresnel lens.

They both require a fresnel.
The black one has an eyepiece section that can rotates to any 90° position so it works conveniently and easily for horizontal and vertical compositions plus you can look up into it when the camera is positioned above your head. The older version doesn’t do this. Plus when you take the eyepiece section off the base part functions as a hood. Lastly the eyepiece part can be nested into the base part for more convenient carrying and storing.
One last thing. The older one has been off the market for almost 50 years. The front surface mirror could easily have deteriorated.

Just a thought here- I have one of the reflex viewers for my Linhofs. I found it bulky and cumbersome (it is the older ivory version). Like using waist level finders on TLRs and the reversed direction of movement I find the “upside down and backwards” of a view camera groundglass is something you just get used to, odd as it seems. YMMV.

The working with reverse image is not my issue, it’s primarily just a preference of working with a finder versus a dark cloth. I often work in areas where there is high wind, and the cloth can be very problematic..

the black Cambo version looks to be quite nice,.

Aha! Makes sense. Good luck on your search, they do turn up now and then. Maybe put up a WTB over at LFF if you haven’t already done so. I would sell you mine if you wanted but it is buried in deep storage at this time.

Hello Jason, I don’t have a finder but just want to reach out to say Hi another enlightened Color fan. I have 4 1958-1964 versions, in various states, including a “23” which is a bit hard to find. I’m obsessed with this camera. Don’t like the mid ‘64 rear rise version so much so I stick with ‘58.

Nice to meet you!

Edit: Also a Quick comment on the “Ivory” hood. There are also two piece style available in that color. Additionally someone mentioned that the mirrors were not in good condition or some of the older ones. Maybe that’s true, however the mirrors are actually excellent quality. There is also a foam piece beneath the mirrors on some of them, of course it degrades over time and needs replacement. My actual preference is the one piece reflex finder. That’s an aesthetic preference taking priority over convenience. And furthermore, in my opinion , there’s no reason to own this camera if aesthetics take a backseat to function :D.
