Looking Glass Magazine

A print version, done right, as in doing the photographs justice in quality, would be hugely expensive I'd imagine.

Yes, it's quite costly. My Sanity Group has advised me to move at a steady and even pace.

Just saw this. Will definitively subscribe as soon as I get back home. But, I really really would like to see a print option in the future. 25-30$ per issue would be fine by me Maybe there is some sort of print on demand option you guys could use?
 
I too have subscribed, and my initial brief skim over the 64 pages of the first issue makes me think that it will turn out to be some of the best money I've spent on a photographic periodical.

That is 64 pages without any advertisements - although if you wanted to add a couple of pages of advertisements they can entertain as well.

I liked the links to web videos that expand on some of the features.

And I appreciate the fact that you are also supporting APUG as an advertiser.

Thank you, Rikard! We'd like to see a print option as well. Print on demand could put us in the red. It's an area where we need to tread carefully. We have a few wise advisors helping us navigate this project as we move forward. For now, Looking Glass will be offered as a digital magazine. After our first 6 e-issues, we will offer a 7th printed issue (purchased separately). Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

There has been a tiny bit of confusion about creating an account to purchase our magazine. A Facebook or Twitter account isn't needed.

Kiosk Instructions
1. To purchase one-year subscriptions and single issues of Looking Glass Magazine, please visit our zine kiosk. You will be asked to create a user account. Click on the “create account” tab. The form fields will ask for your name, and email address. You will also create a password for your account. When you’ve filled in the fields, select “create account.”

2. You will arrive at the secure shopping cart where you can make your purchase. Once you’ve made your purchase, the zine viewer will open enabling you to read the full version of our magazine.

3. You will receive an order confirmation, payment receipt, and a request to activate your account via email. (Action required.)

4. When your account is activated, each issue you purchase will be saved in your Joomag account. If you have purchased a one-year subscription, new issues will be added automatically.

I signed up for the dang subscription, but haven't looked at the magazine yet. Good that this post was made. Going to try again this evening. Wanted to set aside a couple of quiet, comfortable, uninterrupted hours to really enjoy going through it for the first time. Sadly, my life doesn't always follow such desirable curves. Tangents, yes. Gazillions. Curves, not so much...

Thank you, Doug! I'm pretty excited about the work in the September issue. I don't know what the page-count will be yet, but I think it's going to be longer than the first issue. Lots of really great work coming up...

Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor are a great way to make a cameo in Looking Glass Magazine.

Examples:
"Dear Amanda, (Censored.......)"
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine..."
"Did you notice that you misspelled your own name on page 2?"​

Selected letters will be published in the Aug/Sept edition of Looking Glass.

 
The sample looks great but are there any particular software requirements. I once subscribed to some back issues of a magazine, available on line only, and found the experience poor; had to install certain software, Mac compatibility issues arose and if I couldn't save the pages wasn't what I was looking for. Thanks.

Hi Richard,

There are no particular software requirements. I'm on a Mac too. The best viewing environment (for now) is a laptop or desktop computer.
(An app for mobile viewing for native iOS is currently being updated and should be released pretty soon)
