Hi everyone,

I’m trying to track down OASIS Pro (by Fujifilm) in France — specifically, how to purchase it, who officially distributes it here, and how to obtain a valid license.

I used to work with FujiTecom2000 and a Viptronic densitometer, and I would be happy to use the Tecom2000 again, but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. I also can’t find OASIS Pro locally or online for purchase or licensing. So far, official Fujifilm France support has been unable to assist. Ideally, I need something that works with X‑Rite densitometers. Does anybody know if OASIS Pro is still actively sold or supported in France? If so, who is the authorized reseller? How can I obtain a license (perpetual or subscription)? Are there any contact details or websites that actually sell it? If not, is there a densitometer software that is still readily available or supported, that you would recommend?

Thank you!

official Fujifilm France
I think your best bet would be to get in touch instead with the Belgium office through the contact on this page: https://www.originalphotopaper.com/products/oasis-pro-professional-lab/
The France office AFAIK is just that - an office. The actual technical expertise in this particular area would be in Sint Niklaas, Belgium, at the Fuji Hunt business.
The Fuji offices have an unfortunate habit of communicating fairly ineffectively much of the time, resulting in questions asked of local offices to basically getting lost. On the other hand, my experience with the actual centers of expertise is that they're willing and able to answer specific questions.

That's not to say I'm particularly hopeful about the availability of this product; the software may be feasible, but hardware might be tricky. This is a niche within a niche and I doubt that even Fuji themselves still use this.

Thank you! I’ve actually reached out to the Belgium office as well, but it’s taking a bit of time to get a response. I’m starting to wonder if there’s any other software that might be easier to get hold of - though it seems like finding something suitable is turning into a bit of a nightmare.

If anyone here has experience with alternatives or knows of similar software that’s easier to access, I’d really appreciate any pointers!

As I understand, what you'd mostly do is track three densities per color channel over time. If I had to set something like that up today, I'd just put it in Excel or otherwise build a Python script using AI that visualizes the plot based on data acquired from a suitable densitometer. Appropriate bandwidths of the densitities can be obtained from Fuji's or alternatively Kodak's documentation which is freely available online. That of course still leaves the issue of obtaining a densitometer that connects to a computer - although manual data entry is always a possibility as well.

Thank you, that could be a solution!

Hey Vic!

Send me a pm! We are looking for testers for a program called Sahara to solve just this problem. Huge fan of Oasis, many labs I work for still use it daily but I always wished for some modifications which were not possible due to what I assume are the costs of maintaining legacy software. Our tool has all the functions of the standard Oasis but the models are exposed to the user so you can really do whatever you want (custom strip definitions, define your own graph fields with whatever math you like, process definitions) the list goes on...

Here are some photos from an early gui, it is sort of like the old Kodak Colorwatch system based on Technet but instead of us interpreting the results for you we give you an interface to organize information and build knowledge related to your processes. We do hope to eventually partner with chemical manufactures to be able to provide a more granular level of support but for now the value (besides the obvious ability of having a small window into what your process is doing) is primarily in the interface, the flexibility of the underlying models and export functions (reports for marketing etc...)

It is based on the webserial api which means it is OS agnostic but most importantly we will be actively supporting it along with the legacy densitometers required to run a program like this. Currently we are aiming for a market which would be interested in purchasing a package on a subscription basis (leasing densitometers, offering overall QC support these sort of things) but we would really like to see QC more widely adopted worldwide so we are open to ideas.

The beta is geared towards people with X-Rite, Barbieri or similar serial densitometers. I am winding down a long work contract now which will free time up to get this ready, support some usb based densitometers and some spectrophotometers (we will have a webclient and a Windows / Mac client) and start marketing etc... We would appreciate any input as we navigate these early months.

Moderator note: I have approved your message on the assumption that this is an invitation for a beta program that involves no cost to the testers and is for a development in a pre-commercial phase. If and when this moves to a commercial phase and you'd like to offer it to the community, we'd like to kindly ask you to adhere to our forum rules concerning commercial activity. As said, for now I assume that this is more about development, testing and information exchange, which we encourage.

Hey Koraks, your assumptions are correct.

Any input is much appreciated, I would like to see the market for film expand and its a lifelong thing understanding how my unique contributions can further this goal.

Way to go. Great to see you here. BTW do you also plan to track specific gravity in Sahara?
