I'm also happy to see the interesting examples of pictures using this kind of bokeh.
I know, Dan Fromm... Maybe one day catadioptric doughnuts won't be bad anymore. You should think of the doughnuts as a characteristic to take creative advantage of.
I see now that it's not productive to label bokeh as "good" "neutral" and "bad". Doesn't tell me anything about what to expect in the pictures.
I think it helps to have this descriptive name like "soap bubble"... because I used to call this "the bad bokeh". Now when I go out shooting with that lens I have that has this bokeh, instead of shrugging and saying "oh well, I guess I get the bad bokeh today"... I'll start to look for this kind of effect to take advantage of.
In fact, I'm going out this week with that camera, so it's good timing for this realization.
