I just got an Automat version 2 and would like to replace the very worn skin. I have two that are original black. I would like to do this one in a custom color but not a solid color. I’m thinking a mottled color and or a cool texture.

Contact Hugo Studio and see what they are willing to try? https://hugostudio.com/ Maybe you could get something printed on a sign vinyl, have them apply it to a base material and then then they cut it to fit?

Any sneaker stores in your area, basketball shoe collectors? Because there is a culture of people painting them up with designs and patterns, etc. Some very talented people doing this stuff. Which means that they know how to make color stick to leather and fake leather. I bet tattoo parlors would also have some leads. Now this could get expensive one-off work, but might be worth it.

Be worthwhile doing some photo comps before getting custom work done. Take or grab some photos of the camera and lay the design(s) into the leather areas to see how it looks.

If the world can survive having an M3 looking like this in it, it can survive a Rolleiflex looking like a coral reef! Go for it.

This gave me an idea! I have canvas that I use for printing so I can find a texture I like and if needed color it. I can use the original leather as a template.
I know that Hugo uses a laser cutter. You could ask him if you can send him material and have him cut to fit a specific camera. You'll find that hand-cutting a skin is not very accurate.

(and that isn't my pink Leica, by the way, just a photo stolen from the internet)
