I'm looking for any possible leads on where I might find a front extension for my Ansco 8x10 C-1 wood-field camera. Your thoughts?

I found a auction on ebay for two extensions (each for a different camera). But I can't find them now.

Freygr, I've seen extensions from other manufacturers that look like they would fit an Agfa Ansco Commercial, all the fittings are the same. But like you it was not recent.

I think it was Kodak 2D rails, the hinges etc seem to be similar. Imay be wrong but I have seen extremely similar in the last year.

Paddy, there are two Kodak extension rails for sale on the Large Format forum, the one from a 2D, looks to be dissimilar, however the Eastman View Camera 2 extension rail has the same key mechanism and may fit an Agfa Ansco.

The "key" component of any extension rails are the gear tracks. If you can get rails of any kind with compatible brass gear tracks, you can have a woodworker craftsperson make an extension rail to fit your camera. You can also have an existing extension rail reworked to "fit" as long as the gear tracks are correct pitch. The hinge and/or attachment wing-nut can be replaced or repositioned.

On my Agfa/Ansco triple-extension 8x10 the front rail attachment is rather small, and normally not needed, except for very long lenses. The Agfa/Ansco design more or less had telescoping rails built in, unlike a design such as the Eastman 2d, which did not.

Ian, it's the C-1 (commercial model). I'm assuming I have the same model as Phototone does. It already has a fair bit of extension, but I thought that it would be nice to have a bit more for close-up work.
