Looking for a good supplier of mounting board in Dublin, Ireland

Hi all,

Cutting my own mounts these days, looking for a good supplier of PH Neutral mounting board. Preferably somewhere in Dublin or surrounding areas. Can you recommend somewhere?

Hi Martin, if you are looking for a good, museum/archival board, you'll have few choices, but if you need something simpler, like white-core etc, most art supply places have it, even the one in Wexford St not far from Gunn's. For the good stuff, I go to, or have it delivered, by Glenwood Mouldings in Newtownmountkennedy—ask for David Woods, 01-2011678. They sell Colourmount, and the Museum board comes in just two white colours, bright or soft, codes 202 or 204. For a 10-pack of 32x40" raw sheet you'll pay about €95-100, which is pretty good. They also sell single sheets.

As all raw sizes, you need to square and size them down, and you won't get 4 16x20 I'm afraid, there is just about 8mm variation in sheet-to-sheet size, and odd bumped corners, especially if it is delivered... I don't know anyone who could sell me 32x40 with perfect, undamaged, square corners, and exact dimensions. If you do, let me know, otherwise plan for some wastage.

Thanks for the info Rafal. I think I remember you mentioning that place at the place print showing, I couldn't remember the name. I have a half day off in a few weeks so will pop down and get some board.

Martin, it looks like I also need to stock up. Do you know which board you're buying? I need a full pack (10 sheets) or close to it, and I can ask Glenwood to deliver to mine—I am near Bray.

I can supply you with 44x32 inch white solid core 4 ply Mount board which I have in stock. You will get four 16x20's but it's a thicker board than what I think you use so maybe won't suit you. If it is too thick, I'm sure I could get you the regular 2 ply thickness.

Not sure of the codes etc but I am looking for something like Museum board but in a slightly off white colour if that makes sense i.e not the ice white bright type of colour. I could go halves with you if you want. I could join in with an order with Peter also, up to you

Peter, what is the actual thickness of your board? For me, making perfect cuts will be harder if it is much over 2mm. Could you share more info about the specification, museum or conservation and any PAT test certificates? I like the larger size, very much—hope the price is good.

The board I stock is 3mm thick. I could get the thinner board if you wish but will have to check prices and minimum order quantities and get back to you.

Rafal, I got some board off Peter before and all the corners were perfect. I know Peter cant guarantee that the board will be delivered perfectly but it was perfect the last time I got it from him, the company he deals with seem to pack it well.
