I am having trouble with the standard focusing screen and it’s use in poor lighting conditions.
I have been told that a Beattie Intenscreen may well solve the problem.
If anybody has one for sale or know of any contacts I would be very interested to hear from them.
There are 6 different versions with Beattie part numbers as follows
83360
83361
83362
83363
83364
83365
Any of these would be of interest.
You could watch eBay but I suppose you are doing that already. KEH has them once in awhile. Not sure about Roberts (https://usedphotopro.com/.
The best option would be to get a Maxwell Screen. I have them in my Rollei 2.8C, Baby Rolleiflex 4x4, Hasselblad 500C, and my Mamiya 645 1000s. Fantastic screens.
Contact Bill Maxwell at maxwellprecisionoptics@yahoo.com. It might be an old email address as I haven't spoken/emailed Bill in a number of years.
Just to keep you up to date.
I have managed to clean up the original focusing screen and put new packing 3mm foam in place down both side edges.
This has made quite a difference and it is useable now.
If a Beattie screen becomes available at a reasonable price I would still be interested.
Excellent solution and glad it worked for you! The main thing with these cameras is ensuring that what you see as in focus on the screen is the same as what will be in focus on the negative. The foam surrounds are the first item for the cameras!
