Greetings,

My name is Dan. I live in Virginia, USA. Got my first camera (1916 Kodak box camera that used 616 film) as a birthday present at age 4 in 1949. Had my first darkroom by age 12. I was an anthropologist/archaeologist/professor in my last professional life and I have been retired since 2002. I have never been a camera collector, per se, but I do have a pretty decent collection of cameras. The are all users, not pretty objects sitting on a shelf for show. I shoot both digits and silver halide crystals; these days more of the latter. I stopped doing most darkroom work ages ago, so my work process now is often to shoot on film, scan film, and work with Photoshop, Lightroom and other software on my Apple Mac to make archival enlargements on my Epson Surecolor printer. For digital photographing and filmmaking my main tool these days is a Panasonic Lumix GH7 four thirds camera. glad to reconnect with this forum!

Cool, welcome back!

Thank you, Sean. The big Peter Gowland camera under your arm in your photo brought a smile to my face remembering Gowland’s pictorial contributions to Playboy and my coming of age back in the early-mid 1960s.

Welcome back @danmouer, we're happy to have you!

I do that quite a bit, too; it helps me to focus more on the image and less so on chemistry and technique. The latter can be fun, too, but it can also get in the way of photography.
