I was blessed with a similar inheritance;50-year-old slides and B&W negatives in basement storage.while the negatives are all fine, the slidesw have all but faded.

No 'inhertance' for me yet, I have B&W negs and color negs and slides shot myself now over 50 years ago, including both B&W negs and color slides PROCESSED BY yours truly. Not stored in super conditions, but in glassine envelopes and many of them filed in a leather shaving kit (my father's!). And no evidence in many of the color shots of significant deterioration. In fact, scanned by a digital scanner with automatic scanner software (which assumes no fade or color shift) the digital files are generally incredibly faithful to my memory! Thank you for the Pics, Vaughn. I haven't done any exploration yet in that part of the State, though my neighbors, about my age, backpack there. I'm pampering a bad case of shoulder bursitis, but will probably start working out with a full pack once again later this week. Since my last trip was one of the very few ones on a popular trail (Rae Lakes Loop), I'm hoping for more solitude and off-trail opportunities this summer in Wyoming. Still haven't decided on the exact photo gear, but it will probably be a 4x5 folder. Right now I'm printing color, mostly 8x10's, but some 4x5 and 6x9. Lots and lots of those damn sleeves to sort through, since I only have the time and materials to print a select few.
