I was blessed with a similar inheritance;50-year-old slides and B&W negatives in basement storage.while the negatives are all fine, the slidesw have all but faded.
No 'inhertance' for me yet, I have B&W negs and color negs and slides shot myself now over 50 years ago, including both B&W negs and color slides PROCESSED BY yours truly. Not stored in super conditions, but in glassine envelopes and many of them filed in a leather shaving kit (my father's!). And no evidence in many of the color shots of significant deterioration. In fact, scanned by a digital scanner with automatic scanner software (which assumes no fade or color shift) the digital files are generally incredibly faithful to my memory! Here are three which were shot 57 years ago on color neg
...
and one that was shot 'only' 55 years ago on color neg
