Try this one http://www.sendeancameras.co.uk/ I used to send all the customers Hasselblad repairs there for the company I worked for, they are a good long established company who do excellent work at a reasonable price.

IME Sendean are extremely expensive. But then I am usually skint
I've used these guys before though for Mamiya & LF stuff rather than Hass: http://www.protechrepairs.co.uk/

They've always been pretty cheap (eg GBP60 for RB lens CLA) & reliable.

Or you could take it to the Pro Centre on Mallow Street (near Old St tube) and they will pass it on to Hasselblad UK.

So you think that £85 they quote to service a Hasselblad 500 series body is expensive, what planet do you live on ?, I sent literally hundreds of repairs to Sandean over a period of seven years I worked for a particular group of photographic retail shops, and didn't find their prices expensive in the least.

mickster, how much protechrepairs charge for a back service?

The £85 from seandean for a repair is a pretty standard service price compared to other places like Fixation and so on. Not "cheap" given the price of used equipment nowadays, but not expensive in the grand scheme of expensive Hasselblad things.

Sandean only quote £65 to service a back, I.M.O you can't equate the cost of skilled labour by technicians with the prices you can buy things for on ebay for otherwise you might as well throw it away and buy another one which might or might not need servicing, it's a calculated risk.

I agree with that, you pay to service it and have a back that should be good to go for another 5 years.

Nope, what I thought expensive was the £190 they quoted me to remove a jammed lens from an RB67, and the £160 they quoted for a CLA of a Nikon 150mm lens (newest Copal style) with sloppy speeds at the low end. These were both in the past 12 months; maybe their pricing structures have changed a little since you were last in the trade ?

The prices I quoted were the ones on their current website which I now notice are minus V.A.T. http://www.sendeancameras.co.uk/camrepairs.htm, my company were "Trade", and paid considerably less than retail

Hi all,

I have been using a manual hasselblad for about 20 years - I took mine (503cw) as I was just thinking I may have jammed it as I took the winder and lens off and it fired - and it hadn't had a service in years. I have an upcoming artist residency in Thailand with the Architectural Association, and Australia visit. I dropped it in Sean Dean cameras and was informed there is a fault with the lens, that the winder was warped, a fault with the body and a servicing quote in addition - the full quote came in almost 1,000. I hestiated, as I've been using the camera and making work fine till just taking the winder of and kind of panicking as I've had issues with needing a reset before.
I collected the camera and posted it to Classicv.co.uk, have been assured the lens camera is fine, apart from an element missing from my screen, (probably due to me trying to clean it before) - and have had a quote that may be less than 200 depending on labour, to give it a further check up and resolve any minor issues.
As a woman of 40 I am noticing I am outgrowing being ripped off, so thought I would share my experience, and will confirm when the camera is back with me and working fine and I am exhibiting my next work ...

I have used ClassicV in the past several times to service/fix my Hasselblads. The service was always prompt and great. I wouldn't touch Seandean with a barge pole, given my first and only experience with them a few years back (this is an old thread!)
