I've decided to try this. "Achieve a variety of exciting results using 100, 200 or 400 ISO settings." Any thoughts? I usually shoot T-Max 100, Tri-X, Portra 400, or Ektar 100, so this is way out of my comfort zone.
I have tried it. I still have a few rolls left to shoot.
I loved Lomochrone Turquoise, which is no longer available. It gave most shots an otherworldly look, kind of like a Martial landscape.
LomoChrome purple, on the other hand, tended to give me a very murky brownish look which I found quite drab and unappealing. Only a few shots had the bright purple for which this film is known. I have read reviews online where others have had the same experience. However, Lomography keeps making this film so others are having better results. I have read a few articles that the film works best when shot at 100 in bright sunshine. Interestingly, the final results you get if lab developed depend on the brand of scanner your lab uses. If scanning or printing at home, you are own your on as far as how to color balance this film.
Is this the old formula you are shooting or the new one? I have shot numerous rolls with the old formula at 200, and it gave me fun results 50% of the time; the other 50% it turned out murky and brown, as Wallendo noted.
I shot it at 200 due to watching a video a while back that mentioned the purple effect going away with overexposure, but that was with the old formula. Not sure what effect the new formula will give you yet.
I didn't know there was an "old" and "new" film. I purchased mine from Freestyle around a year ago. I shot at 200 using Sunny 16 in a non-metered Nikon F. It was my last real photo outing before the pandemic. I have one keeper, a white picket fence that's, well, pink/purple.
