locations in LV

Outside the obvious locations like "the strip" and Hover Dam what are some interesting locations in and around LasVegas? I suspect the scenery abounds.please share some neat locations with me...

If you've got the time and a vehicle to get around with, Valley of Fire is great for landscape visits and photography. It is a good 45 minute drive outside of LV metro north on the 15 fwy, but worth the trip if your into any landscape viewing or photography.

Vegas is a great city to get OUT of fast. In mild weather, like this time of year, several wonderful spots have already been mentioned. Red
Rocks is right on the north edge of town. Valley of Fire State Park is maybe twenty minutes away, to the southeast. Wonderful rocks. The
Muddy Mtns are slightly to the southwest, with colors reminiscent of Death Valley, but with only dirt roads. Death Valley itself is about two
hours away and really deserves several days of its own. Zion National Park is closer, due east, just a little over an hour away; but again, it
deserves more time than just a day trip. Vegas even has its own ski resort, up in the Spring Mtns, though conditions are probably pretty dry this winter. The cliffs of Red Rocks form the abrupt southern tail to that little mountain range. Plenty to do, if you don't choke to death first from all the cigarette smoke in the casinos.

Agree! Last time I was there ( went to a bowl game with my dad ) we managed never to even go into the city at all. Saw Hoover dam and visited several parks and wildlife refuges. We had a great time, saw wonderful scenery, and I'd do it again!

( I thought Don was going to ask about different locations and Light Values.... like different latitudes or altitudes or deserts vs. seaside! )

If you do happen to do some street photography along the strip, don't blame your film if a lot of pictures of women come out with blue
hair.
