The Usual Suspects used to sell this filter but now it seems to be D/C. I need a similar filter in 52mm. Does anyone know the equivalent of this filter from other manufacturers that is still available today?
Do color infrared images look the same (or pretty close) to the B+W 099 with the #21 orange? I have a B+W 099 in 52mm, and need an equivalent in 77mm, since 099 has been discontinued.
Last I looked at Aerochrome, "minus blue" (Wratten 12) was the spec'd filter to use. The 099 and Wratten 21 filters might do something along the right lines, but I'd start with what the spec calls for and branch out from there if the look wasn't what I wanted.

I have used the Wratten 12 and it leaves (no pun intended) vegetation somewhat purplish, where as with the B+W099, the vegetation is more reddish, which I like.
I didn't realize the original poster was using the filter for electrophoresis.
For color infrared use, anything from #12 yellow to orange will be ok. I wouldn't go too deep with the orange, though. The #16 orange is probably better than #21. Seems like the B+W 040 and 099 filters are closer to #16 light orange.
I have a comparison shot with #12, #16, #25 filters:
