Anyone ever tried to load rollfilm? Since there is no 220 rollfilm in bw available anymore,
I wondered if there is a way to load film onto the roll myself, like it is possible with 35mm film.
My guess is, that it is too complicated to get the material and to stick the paper to the film
in an accurate way in complete darkness.
You need the 220 spec and a 120 film copy the paper leader unto the 120 backing and use scissors.
You need a splitter and a wide roll of film eg 70mm. People make splitters for sub miniature to split 120 or 35 mm down for subs. Ilford did not want to do a 30m roll of 120/220 film for the custom run but they did wider...
You then need a slot in wood to hold the film and leader butted while you stick the pressure sensitive tape on.
It may be simpler using 120. I've got 3 220 pressure plates for the RB but not motivated myself to make a splitter, two diameters of steel tubing and Meccano set...
Ok. That's defenitely not worth the hassle. There is not much on the internet about the subject (which makes it even clearer) und it appears that there is no supplier who sells 120/220 bulk film anyway. Splitting film ... wow ... never thought about that.
