loading 120 film onto jobo 2502 spirals

Hi

once there was a page at Jobo with instructions on how to do this at this url, however it seems to be dead. I can't find any other instructions which contain pictures.

The reason I ask is that I have bought 3 spirals from ebay and one is broken and 2 do not have the red tab that is discussed in the document (google had a cached version)

and

I'm considering returning them as I believe that I can't use them this way for 120 processing (happy for corrections here)

also, there is a small plastic "peg" which pokes up into the spiral interior at an angle backwards to the 'direction' of the film loading. What is this for?

sorry to ask such questions, but so far I've only developed 4x5 sheets and 35mm film.

you can load 120 stuff on them, those red tabs are just stoppers for loading 2 120 rolls in one reel. I ended not using them even when loading 2 rolls.

contacted seller, they are kindly sending me 2 spirals with the red stoppers.

I still wouldn't mind knowing what that internal peg on the spiral is for...

Dear Pellicle,

The red pin serves two purposes with 120 films: it allows two 120 films to be loaded sequentially onto one spiral with no danger of overlap (the alternative is simply to use the tape already at the end of the 120 film and tape them together to prevent overlap)-load one film to the center, push the pin in, load a second film; it also allows you to load one 120 film on the outer edge of the spiral and use a reduced quantity of chemicals to process - push the pin in, then load one film. There is a chart for 2500 series reels and tanks that shows the reduced amount, try looking in "service" in the JoBo.de site.

And the internal peg is the stopper for when you load two films.

say ... silly question. but how wide should these reels be?

there is two stops on expanding the width one looks about right for 35mm, and the other is only 48mm wide.

I thought 120 was supposed to be 6cm wide?

The 2502 reels have three slots for setting the film width. There are two close to the spiral for 35mm and 127 films, and there is one right at the edge of the spirals core, for 120 films.

I saw there were three slots, but the last one just didn't want to engage (and there's bugger all inner tube to latch on to). Glad it then slides onto the tube ...
