Lith print exchange, anybody interested?

Anybody interested in a group exchange of lith prints? Set up would be similar to the other exchanges with groups of 4 or 5 so that each person won't have to mail a bunch of prints. I think lith print should include straight lith and bleach and redevelop in lith. Imput is more than welcome so that those of us who are interested can set up and exchange that we all enjoy. Date of exchange would be set up after seeing how much interest there is.

well we got 4 of us, I think that's enough for me to say go for it. we'll wait a couple of weeks to let everyone in and then set up particulars. I'm thinking this will be a great way to see what people are doing with different techniques and papers.

I've not done any Lith printing yet, but I have been inspired by Mike's beautiful lith printed postcard in the postcard exchange... I have the Fotospeed lith starter kit; so if an absolute beginner is allowed in I'll throw my hat in the ring!

I've only been lith printing for about 3 years now and the Fotospeed lith kit was how I started. There's some good advice in the instructions with the kit as well as loads of info here on apug and elsewhere.

Absolute beginners are absolutely welcome to participate. One of the things that I really like about these exchanges is that people get to see first hand what can be done with the process. Here's a list of things that I would like to serve as the purposes of this exchange:

1. beginners get to see what others with more experience are doing
2. printing problems can be solved with feedback from group
3. we all get encouraged to keep going through inspiration and help
4. we get to show off what we're doing to people who understand it
5. we all get to see what other materials can do (paper, developer, toning)
6. we all get more prints to hang on our walls
7. that cool feeling of getting something in the mail

any other ideas please chime in

Should we settle on a specific print size? I think it makes sense to trade no larger than 8x10 or 11x14. What do others think about this approach?

I would appreciate to know the materials used, dilutions, exposure times, etc. Details that would otherwise take a long time to experiment with.

I'm not keen on that one. It only costs me a few pence more to send a print to the USA than the rest of Europe.

How about using the rules for the standard group print exchange -- they're well tried and tested.

However, if some people are concerned that they are beginners then we could use the alternative print exchange system. People list if they are experienced, intermediate or a beginner and the organiser sorts people into groups so that there is a mixture of abilities.

Half the fun of the postcard thing is receiving pictures from (and sending to) faraway places, so personally I'd hope we don't separate EU/US.

Also purely my personal opinion, I think the absolute beginners and the experts should be 'mixed up'. It's not a competition (is it?,) so as a beginner I'd consider it an honour and inspiration to receive an expertly created print. Of course the expert who receives my rubbish one may not be so keen, but not everyone can be a winner

However it's organised anyway I'm sure it'll be great - looking forward to it!
