Sorry, the best shutter speed I am aware of at 1/720 a 1/2 stop slower than 1/1000 is the Minolta TC 1 with 28mm G lens. I think the Nikon is 1/500 as well, Worst of the lot is the Konica Hexar AF at 1/250.

If you are referring to the 35ti, yes, but since I can control the aperture, it should suffice @ f11.

My Pentax shoots the brightest scenes @ 1/160 f16, which is great for preserving the highlights of my slide film, but the disfraction effects lead to a more 2-dimentional image.

If you are trying to shoot wide open then you might want to focus on point and shoots that accept filters and put a ND on it. Some of the earlier ones do, like the Nikon L35. Contax ones do too I believe. My TVS does at any rate. You'll also need manual ISO or exposure compensation as well in that case if the camera doesn't meter near the lens.

I have a brace of Pentax IQs and a WR as well, as much I like them for black and white and at time color negative film, I have never used them for slide film. The Dx coding cannot be over ridden, no manual mode, and the metering while good for black and white and Kodacolor, still cant see using for slide film. Both the Minolta and Konica have excellent lens but are wide at 28mm.

I took the original data from Leitz, but from the Zoom version. (As seemingfly that fitted more my idea of a modern "point & shoot".)

I just found out that the max shutter speed of the 35ti is 1/250 in aperture priority!

The Contax and Leica models are selling for thousands of dollars.

If digital hadn't ruined things, the older ones would be cheaper, and we might have better ones to choose from by now.

If your thinking about a small SLR, then I would look at the Minolta 3, Nikon 65 or 70, Canon Rebel. I have Minolta 3, don't use it much, it is small, easy to handle. Matched with a 50 1.7 very compact. Other option is Pentax ZM paired with 40mm MF pancake lens. The ZM is all manual, but not sure about exposure lock.

As I cleaning out my cameras in storage I found another option. Konica S2 or 3, fixed lens rangefinder, shutter speed preferred or manual exposure, very good 45mm 1.7, 6 elements in 4 groups, top shutter speed is 1/500th, as with the Nikon 35t you can use manual exposure to correct exposure. The meter sensor is inside the filter ring so you can use a polarizer if needed. The ASA is 25 to 400 set manually. Down side is that although small and light it is not a compact like your current Pentax IQ.

I've been tempted by Konica Hexar or Minolta 35t, then pull back, without a supply of spare parts I don't want to spend $800 to a $1000 that might only last a couple rolls of film. Over the years been told that there are camera repair companies in Hong Kong or Japan that that can upscale point and shoots, never knew of anyone who has had a camera repaired. Have not shot with my Konica S2 or 3 in a while, might take one for a spin. For batteries I use hearing aid batteries with a PX625 to hearing aid 625 adaptor, just a brass insert that replaces a cardboard or o ring to fit the smaller hearing aid batteries to the larger PX625 battery compartment. When I'm done for the day I take out the battery and ut the paper tab back on to block air flow which increased battery life.

Porsche design. Titanium body. Full manual and auto shutter speed control from 16 seconds to 1/8000 sec!
Three dials control everything - one for shutter speed. One for aperture. One for focus.
Awesome zoom lens (28-60 or 38-90).
EV -2 to 19.
$500 give or take.

Rubbish! Be honest about it. He/she's getting ready to test all your shutter speeds with that super-duper hearing they all have. The signal for a faulty speed is that the paw twitches at that point

My favorite p&s is my Contax T3. Yes, filter adapter for e39 filters is a must have accessory.nOlympus XA doesn’t meet OP’s criteria and can be a little squinty in dim light. However, if talking about PhD cameras (Push here Dummy) the choices seem to be limited and pricy.
My best P&S camera is probably my Leica IIIa or IIIc with 35 or 28mm lens. Compact and fast. And not that heavy.
