i concur on all above names - another interesting guy is Melvin Sokolsky, a very creative photographer and a great example of what was possible when illustrated magazines were king, budgets were big, and retouchers were plentiful (and very highly paid!).
How about William Klein and Richard Avedon? Both produced some great fashion shots. Not sure what's available in print nowadays but you could take a look at photoeye.com
Victor Skrebneski - Long time haute couture and portraitist based in Chicago. His trademark photo is making photographs of people wearing a black turtleneck sweater.
