I was looking at a Super Angulon 65mm ƒ8 for my new baby Tech III, but it doesn't have a lens board, and other than the potluck on eBay, I haven't found any sources for new or used lens boards for this camera. Am I out of luck? Wait until I can find a lens with a board? Buy a sheet of aluminum and cut my own?

I b'lieve the lens you're considering is in a #00 shutter. If you look around you should be able to find an adapter for mounting a #00 shutter on a board bored for a #0.

When you look for boards, look for Nikon and Wista brand as well as Linhof. Coupla years ago I got a lens from Japan on a Nikon board. Same as Linhof board for 2x3 Technika. But have the seller check the board's dimensions before buying.

Those boards have not been made by Linhof for several decades. Don’t buy a current one, it won’t fit. It s very easy to buy a board that fits that he too large a hole and mount a piece of aluminum or opaque plastic to the back of the board to cover the hole and mill the proper size hole into the patch.

Bob, that's interesting. Can you give a source for dimensions of Linhof boards for the various vintages of their various cameras?

edit: Bob, I found a source, have made a little table and want to add it to the list. You can see it at https://1drv.ms/x/s!AggQfcczvHGNgZkWsE-tK8FsI-AOAQ?e=ZnEhgf Please check and suggest changes.

thanks for the suggestions. I have one lens with a board, and my brother has a fair amount of metal fabrication experience, but I was hoping to find something off the shelf. "Brother Favors" are in limited supply at the moment.

Thanks for the reply. I've looked, it seems to take Tecnika boards. 96x99?

Dan, a couple of additional pieces of information of interest for your table:
- 4x5 Technika IV/V 96x99mm boards have clipped bottom corners and a raised circular light trap on the rear. Original Linhof Technika boards have the lens mounting hole a few mm below center of the light trap. Not all other-brand boards have that offset.
- 4x5 Technika III boards are about 93x100mm WxH, square bottom corners, and a slightly recessed circular light trap.

I have a board that appears to have been trimmed so that it fits into both a Technika III and a Technika IV as a kind of class-B fit, but since it's flattish on the back it doesn't provide the raised light trap.

Linhof makes a 3 size Technika board with a centered hole that has a “Z” suffix, for centered, for some 240 and longer boards that will not mount without that hole space.

after a fair bit of searching I came across this ebay listing from Camley Photographic in the UK:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Linhof-23-...627678?hash=item4d5a12419e:g:1d0AAOSw1T1cNFyp

Its for a #00 board (which I believe is what the SA 65mm ƒ8 uses) but it also mentions that they have #0 and #1 boards as well. I also have a 180mm tele arton on the way, but it has a newer board that I will need to replace.
It is not, repeat NOT, the board for the later Technika 23 cameras like the V or the 70.

Don’t know. It’s clear on the size in the listing, and the photo of the the camera is a III.

And it is plainly not for the later models, but someone reading that offer, wouldn’t know that unless they recognize the uncut corners. Truth in advertising is much better then a disappointed buyer.
