Hello everyone,

I got from some institute this camera, Linhof Technika 4x5. great condition, clean lens, fully operate, matte focus screen, and back for 120film, no backs for 4x5 sheets.
its useless for my purposes, so I want to sell it, but I have no clue, whats its market value.
on ebay prices really vary, I dont know if sellers even sold them for that prices.

can someone told me at least app. value of this camera? thanks a lot!

FORUM rules don't allow valuation. That's what EBAY is for.

I can say that it is a very desirable camera system. Go to Ebay, type in the search field "Linhof Technika 4x5" and when the results show up, scroll down to the bottom and locate the "show only" section and check the box "sold items". It should then show what similar items have sold for the the recent past.

Be sure to account for your lenses, backs and other accessories.

When you come up with a price, you can list it here in the classifieds and maybe you will be able to sell it directly to a person and avoid the fees!

Good luck.

Forum rules don't allow thinly veiled attempts to sell something outside of the Classifieds.
After looking at the initial post, the decision was made to let this particular thread proceed.

It looks it's in beautiful shape.
Anyway, Look at ebay, find a similar Linhof and on the very left hand
side with a number fo options.
Look at completed auctions, it will show actual selling prices. Also look for a separate auction
to get a price on the lens and back.
If it were mine, I'd sell it as a kit and lower the price to make it more desirable for someone to
pick up.

People seeking Technika gear can be very particular about the exact model and vintage because this series of cameras was made over such a long period, with numerous changes in specific features. So you need to identify that if you intend to sell it, as well as what specific lens is involved, which appears to be in an old dial-set Compur shutter. And also the extras, or lack of them, needs to be very carefully listed too.

I can't tell if it's a III or IV model. Hopefully, others who are more familiar with these than me will see this thread.

no backs for 4x5 sheets.

I don’t understand, I once owned this camera. In the last photo it seems to me that you can take away the 120 film frame and then you can work with the whole 4x5 groundglass. You only need the film holders

That's definitely the sheet film back. Missing a hooded door.

thank you all for input. "completed auctions" was great idea, I have realistic price estimation. Also thank you for idea selling it here, classifields.

If you wish to do so, you will need to become a paid subscriber first. The subscription cost is quite reasonable - click on the "Support Us!" link shown here near the top of the page for details.

It's a nice camera indeed. The shutter seems to be much older than the lens. The extra wide angle focussing unit is nice, as this camera isn't made for wide angles as is. I have had the same, I sold it because it was quite heavy, too heavy for me.
That shutter would be the No. 3 Compound. I have a Rodenstock brochure dated 2/68 showing the 210 mm f/4.5 Ysarex (a Tessar formula lens) was available in the No. 3 Compound. It is also shown available in the No. 3 Electronic Compur. The mechanical No. 3 Compur is not shown.

The No. 3 Compur and the No. 3 Copal shared the same dimensions in terms of thread diameter and pitch. Their thread mount diameter and pitch were not the same as the No. 3 Compound.

Not sure when production of the Compound shutters ceased.

More information: This website says production of the Compound shutter ceased in 1970: http://riess.fotohistoricum.dk/compur.eng.html

It seems to be a late model Super Technica V (five) 4x5" (with the improved ratcheted lever for raising and lovering the lens). In my opinion this is perhaps the most desirable model, that is if you don't need the hinged door in the upper casing for improved performance using wide angles introduced with the Master Technica 4x5. That door is, however, rather flimsily fastened, which I find disconcerting.
Obviously it's the 6x9 Super-Rollex holder (i.e. not the 56x72 mm version, ref. the masking on the ground glass). Also there is the wide angle focusing unit. All in all a real nice outfit if the condition is ok; especially if the bellows are light tight. Incidentally it's much easyier to change bellows on the model V than on the model IV, that's a real pain.
I don't really have a clear idea about usual selling prices, especially not in these ages of rapid change in financial fortune.
