Some years ago I am convinced I saw, in a photographic shop window in Chester, UK, a 6x7/9 version of a Technika. Can anyone confirm if such an item was produced? I can still visualise it, body, lenses and filters all laid out on a display board, priced at a lot more than I could afford at the time.

I've seen a couple on eBay lately. How come you'd want one instead of a 4x5 with rollfilm back though? Apart from the size difference which can't be that much can it? Just wondering, I'll be buying a technika v next week sometime.

Yes, 6x9. Google will find more info and chances to buy for you. Look on eBay.de, they're fairly common.

Yes, I have one. It's a great little camera. There are several models--Technika 23, 23b, 70, 70 Press, and others.

I've combined the two threads. Since both threads show up in the "new posts" view, it's not necessary to cross post.

I have a 4x5" Tech V, and I got a Tech V 23b, because it has all the functionality of the 4x5" in a more compact package, and sometimes that's attractive, particularly now that I'm often traveling with my wife and the baby.

Linhof 679 is not Linhof Technica. It is a view camera for roll film or digital back, extremely accurate made. It is still in production, look www.bhphotovideo.com in NYC. The price is around $5000-$7000 (only camera). It will not accept just any lens made for view camera, but just some lenses, so take care. It also can get linhof/mamiya-67 roll film back.
If it could accept Rodenstock 4.5/90 and some Apo-Sironars I will get it also, but it cannot.

I once owned a Technika 70 with Super Rollex 6x7 back and four lenses with cams. It was in incredible system! Very hand-holdable, but even better with a monopod. It had parallax-compensating framelines for all the lenses in the viewfinder, an excellent rangefinder, front and back movements, long bellows extension, and even a built-in selenium meter! What more could you ask for? OK, so it was heavy. But the negatives it made were incredible. The vertical orientation made it a great portrait camera, and I even shot a wedding with it once.

Thanks for your replies folks. I'm only considering it as an option for fell walking in the English Lake District instead of my Hasselblad or Rollei TLR. There is much to consider. The TLR is light but fixed 75mm lens, the Hass./50mm Distagon is considerably heavier and my MPP 5x4 just too big and cumbersome to carry 10 miles+ at my age. Mmm, there's always a 40mm for the Hass. though!
