I just recently purchased a Linhof Kardan Color 45s. I notice that the tilt movement on both the front and rear standards "sticks" at the 0 degree point. I guess this is what I have seen refered to as the zero indent. The standard frame has what looks like a flat-head screw attached to it, while the post has a spring-loaded ball bearing that fits into the screw slot when the standard is at 0 degrees. This seems great for locking the standards at 0 degrees, but because the standards have a tendency to snap into the 0 degree position, it also makes fine tilt movements a bit awkward.

It seems like I can disable this mechanism with a screwdriver, but I thought I'd ask other owners of this camera how they've dealt with this issue before doing so.
