Hello:

I have a Linhof 70 with a three lobed cam, 65, 100, 180 but without any serial numbers. Was there a generic cam or were the numbers omitted by some shops?

I have owned several Linhofs and used or handled many more and all the 3-lobe cams I have seen have been numbered. Maybe it's a new, blank cam? Bill Orford in the UK can cam lenses, usually (though not always) recycling old cams.

Cheers,

R.

It's probably a blank cam, which would be fortunate for you, if that's the case. If you have lenses of the appropriate focal length, you could send the camera and lenses down to Marflex and have them cammed, and you would only have to pay the labor charge, saving the price of the cam. (A blank cam for a Tech V or MT 4x5" was $128 when I last got one, but I'm not sure how much the blanks for the 23 cameras are).
