It has for some time that I got as a present this wonderful camera,Linhof technika 5x7 serial number:2471050 Does anyone know how to take off or turn the backs on this model.I wouldn't want to brake something, but I don't know ways to take it off.I see some kind of button, but it is fixed. No turn,no push and no pull.On the back of 6x9 cm there is a screw. In fact,on one side it looks like screw from the other side is a small ball that is mobile. And that's all what I see.I hope it's not too easy.:whistling:I attach the photos.Thanks.

Hi Nipia,

That's a very nice present! Without seeing the front open I can't tell if it is a Super Technika IV or V. I have a V.

In any case, the small ball is the detent that allows the back to turn. You've clearly figured how to remove the back using the four diagonal corner slides. As a test, remove the back and put it back with the film holder in the horizontal position and you'll see that it fits just fine. Now --with the camera firmly secured-- pull gently on the black & silver button (photo 4, adjacent to the bottom of the rangefinder on the back) then push only on the corners of the back to rotate it, and it will turn, and the detent ball clicks in every 90 degrees. Note that I'm referring to the native 5x7" 13x18cm back, NOT the reducing back mounted to it in your first photo.

Enjoy!

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your reply. Now I manage to turn 5x7 back but I still don't know how to remove them and put the reduction 6,5x9 (first photo).I don't understand this part: "You've clearly figured how to remove the back using the four diagonal corner slides." Sorry, if you can explain some more.
Thanks

Hrvoje

Some pictures to help

image.jpg h image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Photo 1 Shows the diagonal slides. Turn the back, then push the four slides outward to remove the back, see photo 2.

Photo 3 shows my reducing back. Push down (in) on the pin in front of my finger, then the back will turn. Note that the reducing back plate will turn even though there is no detent release button. See photo 4. Your reducing back looks like it has some damage, so this could work for you.

I can write in German or French if that would help.

Your camera appears to be a Super Technika V:
-it has the internal wide-angle focusing drive in the camera box, controlled by the two knobs below the handle.
-it has the "pump" handle to raise & lower the lens (turn the tiny square knob at the top to change direction).
-it has the rangefinder.

Hi!
I just saw your post and I saw the serial Number of your Linhof. I have bought recently the same model, and my model has the number 2471067! Probably produced the same day? Is it correct that you are from Pozega, Croatia? I was born in Slavonski Brod.....
