Lignose Natural Clour Films

Have come across 1927/8 adverts for Lignose films, imported into the UK by Peeling & Van Neck Ltd, (they also imported Linhof & Voigtlander so it could be German).Anyone know anything about this film, it predates Koadachrome & Agfacolour by a few years.

The advert states natural colour and it's advantages over screen plates, it's also reversal processed, there's no mention of it in D.A.Spencer's 1948 Colour Photography in Practice which was the definitive book on Colour processes of it's day.

What you have is a german additive colour film of the irregular (grain) filter type. Remarkable about this film is that it was preceeding on the market (1927) the film versions of the Lumiere and Agfa additive colour materials. Technically it was closer to Agfa, though having about 2 stops more speed, but still only 3 DIN.
It was offered in a great variety of conversions.

One year later the company was bought by its german competitor. Lignose Natural Film is said to have left the the market the same year. The plant though existed another three years. The whole enterprise was seemingly the shortlived conversion of a former explosives plant.
Anyway, that's seemingly why you did not find it in the Spencer.
