I am looking for an inexpensive desktop size (A4 is ample) lightbox for viewing negatives and slides.

I have seen a Lencarta LB150 (24 X 15cm) for around £29 UKP - is this any good...?

I would welcome any recommendations on alternatives

TIA

Second that.. and if you are any good with basic carpentry, consider building one with some pieces of 1/4 inch plank, a 1 mm sheet of acrylic [milk white colour] and a few CFL [24 Watts], some tin foils .. I did mine and it costs less than US$ 15

Cheers
Deb

If you are viewing slides you need a light box with a colour corrected light source, I bought a 5x4 battery operated one from Jessops for about £20 that I can view my 35mm and 6x6 slides with, they do sell bigger ones as well I believe.

Thanks for the replies.

Do I need a different lightbox for slides and negatives...?

Zuikopath, have a look at the link below[ it is actually about five threads down from your one in the list]
there is a couple of links in this thread that show hoW to make one and some further info that may be of use.
I made one yesterday in about an hour and have just finished using it for the first time. Works great. Basicially a 300 x 400 x 80 wooden box with opaque persplex cover, light source is a cheap hand held, mains source mechanics type light[ tube bulb 15 watt].
regards
CW.
