Has anybody for sale light mixing boxes (35mm, 6x9, 4"x 5") for Ilford Multigrade 500 head/DeVere 504 ?
If not, can anybody provide me with outline with dimensions to allow me to make it myself?

Thanks
Kapro

I have been chasing one for a Beseler 45, it would appear that mixing boxes are specific to the enlarger used.

Your answer is LIGTHTWAVE.
About four months ago I needed a DeVere adapter for an ILFORD 500H and they made it for me. I’m sure they will solve your problem, since they asked me if I needed light boxes (I had a Beseler adapter, but the DeVere was mising).
You shoul visit: Dead Link Removed. An excellent service: fast, affordable, accurate... I had a great experience. Tony was the man who solved my problem.
Anyway, if you (kapro) need it I could take a look at my own ones and measure them for you.
I hope this is of any help, as it was for me. Good luck.

Marcos.

Paul: I was told by Ilford guy that mixing boxes are really specific to enlarger used. It's important how deep is the mixing box sunk into registration plate (base plate). For DeVere 504 it should be 4mm.

Marcos: Thank you. I will give a try with Lightwave. If I'm not sucessful I'll send you PM.

You are probably right about the specificity for the enlarger: My 500H head for the Laborator 1200 has lightboxes that sink almost 20mm in the base plate, so this is definitely something to keep in mind buying this stuff second hand.

You can get them from Odyssey Sales in UK. They are GBP £80 per box. The also stock other replacement parts for the Ilford 500 and DeVeres. In fact, they are the guys who used to build the DeVere enlargers...

www.odyssey-sales.co.uk but they have much more stuff that the web site shows, just email them.

Found this thread, hope it is still alive!

I've recently bought 500H and have a question about light boxes and how to correctly position the lights.

What concerns me is the way the light box is built. The tabs (in the red circle) are not touching the register plate and the light hole seems to be somewhat far from the mirror. I've tried printed few prints and they seem to be fine. Any advice?

Welcome to Photrio.
It looks to me like that box is upside down - the top is down, and the bottom is up.

Hi,
It looks to me that the box is incorrect for your enlarger...it looks too tall.
The windows in the side are supposed to line up with the lamps, and the circled "stops" should be at the level where they meet the black metal plate.
The white diffuser plate looks like it would be way down in the bellows, below the negative stage, with that box.

Which enlarger are you using the 500H on?

Could you be missing a "spacer" between the negative stage and the bottom of the Multigrade head?

There are fitting kit manuals online which would show the correct parts for each enlarger. I have one for my L1200's.

I don't think the mixing box is upside-down, but it could be the wrong box for the film size. Those tabs are supposed to sit on the base register plate and keep the diffuser base of the mixing box off of the film holder.

Yeah, seems like it. The Multigrade head should have a T-shaped profile if you look at it from the front, with the vertical bar of the T being a 'chimney' of sorts that positions the light source at a set distance above the negative stage.
The mixing chamber extends into this chimney.
