Hey guys,

You've all been so helpful getting me up to speed on my recently purchased Mamiya RZ67. After running a roll of film through one of the 120mm backs, I can safely say that the camera itself works great!

...BUT... there appears to be light leak in one of the 2 backs. While I have not tested the 2nd 120mm back, you can see the light leak in the these images: http://imgur.com/a/w13YK

There's no fogging or anything on the film, you only see the leak in the one place at lower shutter speeds. Is this simply a sealant issue? There are no light leaks on the polaroid back, so I'm assuming it's not some other mechanical issue?

Thanks!

You mean 120 film back, not a 120mm film back. It is probably a light seal leak.

I forget how the RZ67 backs are constructed, but on my RB67, a leak light that (across the neg, but some distance in) generally was due to a failure of the felt light trap in the darkslide opening. Light would pipe along the darkslide and expose a part of the negative.

I solved this by generally not inserting the darkslide unless I needed to once I'd taken it out, and then if I needed to by shielding the darkslide opening from direct light.

Hey guys, just trying to troubleshoot a light leak that looks a lot like yours, OP. I also suspect it's the dark slide seal. Were you ever able to nail it down? I am wondering if you were able to replace the seals yourself? If so, where did ya get them?

Cheers!
