Lids for Jobo 2840 tank

I have acquired a 2840 tank with a cog lid. I need a lid to process on a roller processor until I can acquire a jobo with lift - does this lid exist? What am I looking for and where can I find it?

Jeff, the 2800/2500 series tanks and drums are shipped with either a cog lid or a magnet lid. The lids are actually made exactly the same and the cog or magnet snaps into place. I do not know whether it can be removed without damaging the lid. Cog and magnet attachments are available separately, though - generally identified as for 1500 series tanks, but exactly the same part anyway. The magnet lid is for JOBO processors without the lift. The 2800/2500 tanks and drums are identified as cog lid if the 4th digit is 3 and as magnet if the 4th digit is 1. You can call Calumet about obtaining the lid and/or magnet separately as a special order. It could take 2 to 6 weeks to get depending on whether the distributor has it in stock in the US. Good luck.

1500 lids are smaller so don't get one of those.

Easiest get yourself a rubber stopper and stick it in the opening

Next step find a used tank with the right lid. It'll be cheaper then the spare part from Jobo :rolleyes:

The lids are indeed smaller, but the cog and magnet inserts are identical.

But he doesn't need either of those. The magnet isn't any good on the rollerbase and he has a cog already.

Plus doesn't the magnet go on the bottom?

Would something like this lid work? It's listed as a "2000 series" tank.

Yup - checked the documentation, the magnet would go on the bottom - so whether or not there is a cog on the lid is meaningless. the magnet is designed for JOBO units without a lift.

Jeff - I am unclear as to what kind of 'roller processor' you are referring to. If it is merely a roller base - either manual or motorized, you can use your tank as is. The 2840 is an 8 x 10 print drum which would use a maximum of 300 ml of chemistry. This is not enough to spill out when laying on its side. The only trick to pouring in the chemistry on a manual deal without the JOBO lift, if you use that much (minimum is 120 ml) is you have to rotate the drum a bit at a 45 degree angle until the chemistry flows through the light trap funnel. A bit of practice with an empty drum and some water will get it right.
