LFF back up!

One more day... one... more... day...

Announcement: LFF will permanently merge with LFF and all LF forums will be pay only. The price will be based on your surface area of the film you shoot (no discount will be given for those shooting 20x24 sorry). We will also institute a strict requirement that all images have a watermark going through the center of the image with "property of APUG" and only currently available kodak film will be allowed, all others are banned. We will also be adding a digital gallery which will eventually overtake APUG and so we will call the new site HPUG (hybrid photography users group) and only idiots like me will post nonsense and no one will get the correct info, it will be great!

:munch:

Since the forum is down, I had to resort to desperate measures to entertain myself. I dug my Prosch shutter/lens out of the closet, mounted to a lens board, stuck it on my Chamonix, and took it out in the countryside to make some shots. It's almost as much fun doing photography as it is talking about it.

Currently we estimate the site will be back up by end of day Friday, Oct 18th.

Kent what a novel idea!

Also, did you change your APUG name? I feel like it used to be different? Or different in a different forum?

Probably some kind of conspiracy, of which the only logical response is to sneak into one of the shut-down Natl Parks with a Nikon hidden inside
a view camera bellows, just in case they ask you what that big thing is, and you tell them that it's an inflation device necessary to fix a flat
tire en route, and that you have no intentions of stopping to a picture anywhere.

I do like the idea of "crashing" the national parks haha

Last time I was in the US I went for a walk, it said Park closed, I had a wonderful 4 hour walk with no people, just what I needed after a long Transatlantic flight and a lack of sleep

May have been a State Park but who cares, land is for walking through (and in).

Errr . . . . you can't count two and a half days. . . .

No counting issues here... When I wrote that, the site said "up by Wednesday end of day"... Now I see it's Friday. Crazy!

I think that disk failure adventure might be a good lesson to the people who uses digital LF equipment 100 times more expensive than film ones.

You mean they need a back up forum to discuss issues etc. on the occassions where the mainforum malfunctions?
Best regards

shot 4x5 paper again today,
much better than reading a forum that is down ...

I'm enjoying this site and it's the first one I check into each time.

Not looking good, this is what I've just got:

Currently we estimate the site will be back up by end of day Sunday, Oct 20th. There have been some unexpected roadblocks to recovery, but we're working through them as quickly as possible.

Wow. That's really a shame, I wish them the best of luck.

Maybe Sen. Phil Buster has decided to take up large format photography (dread).

Good things often take time and are worth the wait.

I am surprised they don't have a backup drive, I thought that was standard procedure for any server.

Well they do have a backup but since it's a forum where people use film they decided to back things up on microfiche. And the delay on getting the site back up is because the light bulb on the microfiche reader went out and they had to order a new one.
