i was reading the story at the above url about a new clock that's supposed to be perfectly accurate for 10,000 years. i noticed the thin borders of the images posted in the article -- 4x5 ? i get excited when i see large format out in the real world.

the article has serious nerd appeal on its own. but by coupling it with lf photography -- that's wonderful.

the article photos are by dan winters.

Wow huh? It looks like the worlds most expensive gyroscope!

Anyone get a chuckle about that minivan commercial with the 8x10 camera and man on the mountainside?

Thanks very much for the link. A fascinating article. I'd love to come back in 10,000 years to see if the clock made it. (Clocks are one of my great fascinations, and I can't imagine anything out there that would catch my imagination quite like this one.) Again, thanks for a fabulous link.
