Just checking. Was it an APUGger that I saw today on the ramp to Rt 9 from the Berlin Turnpike? I couldn't stop, but it did my heart good to see someone setting up a large format camera by the side of the road to photograph the rock formations of a highway cut (my own guess as to the actual subject here; I didn't get much time to figure it out.)

If it was someone who's on APUG, I hope you'll get together with us at the cook out in June.

It wasn't me, Whitey, but I think there's a really good photo book to be made from photographing the rock faces in road cuts. I've had fantasies for years about having highways with really interesting formations closed for rebuilding so I could stand where I'd need to to make the pictures. But....I also have fantasies about winning the lottery, and the odds of either are about equal I'm sure.

There are several LF APUGers in CT. I am not sure who it would be though... trying to think of someone shooting in this style.

There are highways that have been started and never completed in various places that have attracted me for years. I imagine a series of paintings that are really large, 12-15 ft or so on a side, that are images of the cut rock faces - abstraction in realist work. Somehow I've always thought they needed the scale to work. Now... I simply need to begin working larger than my current 6 in. to 3 ft. range to get a start on this...

No. On second thought, I'll let someone else do it and be an admirer.

As for the lottery: I say my number out loud every time I see the drawing for the evening lottery here in MA on TV. I don't know what will ever happen if I get it right. I'll probably be really angry that I didn't play it, but then, there are all those nights when it doesn't come up...

There was a Fine Focus Workshop this past weekend. Perhaps it was one of the participants heading home on Mother's Day...
