How does it work?

well, you have the different shapes on the wheel, small holes to a larger circle. there's also a ragged edge, so with constant movement you can have more of a "soft" edge.

its a burning tool though, not a dodging tool. bad name calling on the part of the manufacturer

Well, if yours is like mine, there is a blank area you can spin over the hole and use it as a dodging tool as well.
