I think whether the slide can be uncut depends on who's service it's going through to get to Dwayne's. I don't know all the details, but I would check this out beforehand. I know if you send to Dwayne's through Wal-mart it's still Dwayne's high quality processing, but you get what you get, no special anything through them.

I keep forgetting that not everyone understands how a group exchange works. Here goes ....

I asks people to to participate in a group exchange
People sign up in this thread by October 31
People shoot Kodachrome and get it developed
I place people into groups of 5 or 6 people
Participants in each group send a private message (PM) to each other their real names and mailing address
Participants in each group mail each other member of their group a slide (or two) by November 30
Everyone enjoys the slides they recieve from other members of their group
Everyone post messages in this thread how exciting and wonderful the slides they recieve are abd that we should do this again

Well, my 10 boxes of Kodachrome 64 have turned up. Just need to find a 35mm camera to shot some on. Looking at a either an Oly XA3 or an Oly 'mju' II...

K-64 is backordered at Freestyle and B&H, but they say more is on the way in a few days, so I've got 8 rolls on the way. PKR is in stock, though.

I'm afraid I'm with Terry on this one. I would never give away an original. But it is a pretty cool idea for those that don't mind.

With a print exchange at least you get to keep the soul of the image, the negative, but a slide exchange you'll be left with only the memory of what you shot. But on the other hand such an exchange would be substantially more significant, more meaningful.

This is excellent timing - I'm just working my way through my first 3 rolls ever of Kodachrome, and I'd be keen to participate, so I'll have to get cranking and get these developed by the deadline, but count me in (as a new member here, I should add.. If you'll have me

I am just randomly shooting anything I find as I have no idea what will look good and what will look awful on this film, so no guarantees on artistic merit!!

Well, I wouldn't give away an original that I have already shot. But shooting a few rolls of Kodachrome *knowing* that you will give away (well, swap) some of the shots... That just means taking some shots twice, so that you can give away one original and keep another... At least, that's how I see it.

I agree that I'd be shooting specifically for the exchange, so it isn't like I wouldn't know what's happening.

There is also the point that my work isn't really valuable either. It isn't like I'd be giving away a future Rembrandt. Certainly I would try to make it the the best I could; I would not purposely hold back. But I don't really think anyone is ever going to find a Kodachrome slide by me in an old trunk and sell it for big bucks while my estate goes lacking. It's also pretty unlikely that National Geographic would be knocking on my door asking for the one slide I gave away in an exchange.

4 WEEKS??!!
That's what the local shop said the turn around time will be. Anyway, I'm in the que and expect to get my slides back around Thanksgiving.

Depending on the price delta, you might look into sending directly to Dwayne's. I'm located in western Washington state and get mine back in five days. If I can get them out on a Monday (as I did this morning with my latest batch), I receive them back on the following Saturday.

That's my next approach, go directly to Dwayne's and cut out the middle man. I just googled "Dwayne's" and got their address.

Well, if "Participants in each group mail each other member of their group a slide (or two) by November 30" with a 4 week processing turn around, I have about another week of shooting, no time for waiting around. Also the weather/light has been great for K64.

Sounds interesting but no idea how it will work. Fortunately somebody will know I'm sure. First started with Kodachrome II 10 asa then went onto Kodachrome II 25 asa then latterly Kodachrome 64 asa. All those packages to and from Hemel Hempstead. Now I gather it goes to the States. This is a good website by the way it did not flag up Hemel Hempstead as a mis-spell- how about that.

Currently have HP5 and FP4 loaded in my 2 M6's with a few rolls of Kodachrome 64 languishing in the freezer but no problem I have 20 Leitz stacking boxes full of slides

No, I haven't started yet either. As David pointed out, I wouldn't know yet how many times to press the button.

These were just my own autumn colors test slides. I had previously exposed and sent a calibration roll for the camera/meter combination I intend to use. Then I tried some fall colors at my chosen setting to see how they looked.

It's been a while since I used Kodachrome in any sort of volume. And never with this particular camera and meter.

Groups of 4 would make sense for me - since this idea came up I've been shooting 2 or 3 of everything with that in mind.

And I sure hope Daniel (PKM-25) is in - after all, even after selling me 20 rolls, he certainly has the film! .
