If you are looking for the names of ordinary leatherwork tools, buckles, rivets, catches, D rings etc. have a look at Tandy Leather.


Not the cheapest, but it gives you an idea of item names to search for elsewhere.

If it is camera specific items you have a bit of work on your plate.

I dont understand your well-intentiioned yet complex question.

I am looking for 3rd party straps for some of my cameras and I seem to be too stupid to understand the terminology of the manufacturers.

Ahhhh… good clarification!

Here’s what I did for Hasselblad and Rollei. Bought the necessary strap clips and mated them with my favorite aftermarket strap.

No stupidity in that!
It is confusing, because there is little or no commonality in the use of terms.

I have now bougth the 16037 OEM strap which looks not overly impressive but is comfortable like a cashmere pyjama.

I have now bought the Leica x COOPH double rope strap with "ring" ends, for my X, so its cheap knock-off strap can go to he...retire.
